AI editing with full timeline control
octuedit is not a black box: every edit the AI makes lands on a real multi-track timeline that you can change by hand. You can drag, trim and split clips, set position, scale, rotation and opacity keyframes, change speed from 0.1x to 16x or reverse a clip, add transitions such as crossfade, whip, zoom, J-cuts and L-cuts, and use layouts like picture in picture and side by side. Undo covers the agent's edits too. When you want to finish elsewhere, export a project file for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.

What can you ask for while keeping full control?
Type the edit you want in plain words and your own Claude Code or Codex carries it out on a real timeline, which you can still adjust by hand. These requests work well for edits you still control by hand; each one shows what octuedit does with it.
- “Slow this shot to half speed and whip into the next one”Sets the clip speed and adds a whip transition.
- “Put my face in a circle in the corner over the screen recording”Builds a face circle picture in picture layout.
- “Use an L-cut so my voice carries over the next shot”Extends the audio under the following clip.
- “Undo the last three changes”Steps back through the agent's edits like any other edit.
Is an AI video editor a black box, or can I control every cut?
With octuedit, you control every cut. It's an AI video editor for Mac where your own Claude Code or Codex edits the same multi-track timeline you see, so nothing is hidden or locked. Clips, captions, titles, music and effects sit on separate tracks, and you can drag, trim, split, restyle or delete anything the agent made, while the agent can build on anything you did by hand. Undo and redo cover both. Position, scale, rotation and opacity take keyframes with linear or eased curves, speed runs from 0.1x to 16x with reverse, and transitions include crossfade, whip, zoom, dip, J-cuts and L-cuts. Layouts cover side by side, stacked, picture in picture, face circle and blur fill. When you want to finish elsewhere, export a project file for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve. octuedit costs $99 once and runs on macOS 13 or later.
How does control work in octuedit?
The agent edits the same timeline you see. Clips, captions, titles, music and effects are separate items on separate tracks, so anything it does can be moved, trimmed, restyled or deleted by hand, and anything you do by hand the agent can build on. Undo and redo cover both.
Properties such as position, scale, rotation and opacity can be keyframed with linear or eased curves, speed runs from 0.1x to 16x with reverse, and transitions include fade, scale, fly, zoom, whip, crossfade, dip, J-cut and L-cut. Layouts cover full frame, side by side, stacked, picture in picture, face circle and blur fill.

What should you know about control in octuedit?
- Projects are plain folders on your Mac, with the edit stored as readable JSON.
- You can make the whole edit by hand without the agent if you prefer.
- Hand-off projects carry cuts, order, tracks, speed and volume.
Where does control in octuedit stop?
- Not a replacement for advanced color grading or visual effects suites; hand off to Resolve or Final Cut for that.
- Multicam needs every camera to record the shared sound.
- Hand-off projects don't carry keyframes, transitions, grades or caption styling.
Questions
Can I manually adjust AI generated edits in octuedit?
Yes. Everything the agent does lands on a normal timeline, so you can drag, trim, split, restyle or delete it by hand, and undo covers the agent's changes.
Does octuedit support keyframes?
Yes: position, scale, rotation and opacity, with linear or eased curves.
Is octuedit a professional video editor?
It has a real multi-track timeline, keyframes, speed control, transitions and ProRes export, and hands projects to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. For advanced grading and effects, those editors go further.
