What's new in octuedit

Updated 27 October 2026 · By Shivank Goura, co-founder of octuedit

octuedit is an AI video editor for Mac. We shipped more than 100 updates in its first three weeks, and they arrive inside the app on their own, with no new purchase. Here is what changed for you, week by week.

20 October to 26 October 2026

  • Intel Macs get their own download with every release, and the download page picks the right one for your Mac.
  • Your licence can move to a new Mac, and teams can buy several seats at once.
  • octuedit can ask you a quick question instead of guessing, and carries on with a safe choice if you're away.
  • Brand kits remember your end card, fonts and preferences for each brand you edit for.
  • Exports fail far less often, and when one can't finish, the message tells you what to do.
  • Importing lots of clips no longer slows your Mac down, and big imports open straight away.
  • Switching between 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5 keeps your framing, titles and overlays where you put them.
  • More music and sound effects in the built-in library.
  • Import straight from Apple Photos, and steady shaky handheld clips.
  • Report a problem from inside the app.
  • octuedit is now signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other Mac app.
  • Footage from cameras that record in a flat log profile now imports looking normal, and you can apply your own color looks.
  • octuedit stays quick while it gets your footage ready in the background.

12 October to 19 October 2026

  • 4K export, the 4:5 shape for Instagram, caption files for the web, and YouTube chapters.
  • Multicam: edit a conversation filmed on several cameras.
  • New looks for reels, more cut transitions, and captions that mix two fonts.
  • Find a clip by what someone says in it.
  • A lighter app and faster exports.
  • A new octuedit icon.

5 October to 11 October 2026

  • First release on 5 October: describe the edit in chat and watch it happen on a real timeline.
  • Captions, titles, transitions, keyframes, speed changes and color.
  • Layouts, background removal and text placed behind you.
  • Pauses and filler words cut for you.
  • Vertical versions that keep the speaker in frame, with no black bars.
  • Film looks, archival footage and music that fits the edit.
  • Keyboard shortcuts that match Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or CapCut.
  • Motion graphics and sound effects.
  • Edit from Claude Code, or use Codex in the chat.
  • An app that installs anywhere and updates itself in about a minute.
  • A design that feels like a Mac app.
